How to Refresh Faded Garden Signs

Happy Wednesday, Friends! As a writer, as long as I can remember I've been drawn to words. Be it sequined pillows or painted letters on silver platters, my home decor often features inspirational messages. The same is true of the garden that I've filled with whimsical signs. Unfortunately outdoor signs have a tendency to fade over time. Today I'm sharing a simple, thrifty way to refresh them--all it takes is a little time and patience...

Here's one of my favorite garden signs, faded to the point that the message was no longer visible.

Since the original lettering was peeking through, I decided to try my hand at refreshing it with a Sharpie maker. It was a tedious task I didn't complete in one sitting. Instead, I outlined and filled in the letters line by line, until it was finished. Overall, it took less than an hour.

I'm pleased with the results and I'm really happy that I was able to salvage a favorite!

  5. I love this saying! Would a couple of coats of clear spray slow down the fading? The Sharpie might run. Maybe an initial very light coat? I have copieid and framed several Pinterest sayings lately; thrifted frames, of course!
